Hawthorne Park is situated between Hawthorne and Riding Roads in the Brisbane suburb of Hawthorne. Hawthorne is situated about three and a half kilometres on the eastern side of the City of Brisbane bordered on its western side by the Brisbane River, to the north is Bulimba and Balmoral with Morningside to the east and Norman Park to the south.
Our Group was formed initially by local concerned citizens opposed to a bitumen road being placed across Hawthorne Park just to satisfy a local football clubs need to reduce noise from its patrons.
We believe that the residents in our suburb have little open space and parkland and we oppose any more of our public park land being squandered for roads.
The Queensland "Half Smart State" Government has decided to close our local fire station. see 'Save Balmoral Fire Station' website
We also have voiced our strong opposition to the building of a second parallel at the Brisbane Airport.
